The network media will not touch this, at least not in the way I intend to.
Taraji P. Henson made false claims of racial profiling in a February interview with Uptown magazine. Henson claimed her son Marcel was stopped by police under false pretenses near the school, where he was considering attending.
Here is what she said in the interview with Uptown magazine,
“My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for. Then he’s at University of Southern California, the school that I was going to transfer him to, when police stopped him for having his hands in his pockets. So guess where he’s going? Howard University. I’m not paying $50K so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus.”
On Friday, 27th of March 2015, Taraji apologized to police in the Southern California city of Glendale for accusing an officer of racially profiling her son. In which she said “Sometimes as humans WE overreact.
“I would like to publicly apologize to the officer and the Glendale Police Department. A mother’s job is not easy and neither is a police officer’s. Sometimes as humans WE overreact without gathering all the facts. As a mother in this case, I overreacted and for that I apologize. Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son.
Taraji P. Henson”
Yelling fire in a movie theater when there isn’t a fire or better yet, accusing someone of rape when it never occurred are just a couple of examples similar to Taraji’s accusations. This could have caused undue harm in the form of suspension, loss of pay, loss of job, public persecution, death threats and much more. Furthermore, the fact that an investigation had to be opened due to the accusations of a person that wasn’t even at the scene when it occurred costs money, tax payer funds to be more specific.
I personally take offense of the use of the word “WE” in her apology, she can replace the “WE” with “I” because we had nothing to do with her lie. In my opinion, if Taraji was sincere in her apology then the over emphasized “WE” should have been left out. It implies that this is a common problem and an honest mistake, this is simply not true in both cases. It is also a poor excuse to use when you are apologizing.
Recently I have noticed that minorities are increasingly pulling the race card. “Race Baiting” is a growing problem and frankly I am getting pretty damn sick of it. If it were up to me, Taraji’s apology would NOT be accepted because the accusations are nothing more then a lie and an attempt to solicit racial tension.
Here is the video footage from the officers squad car video camera.
The officer was nice enough to waive one of the charges that he could have given to her son Marcel. In other words he helped him out. This is what he gets in return? Taraji’s claim of an illegal search was actually conducted legally due to Marcel admitting that he smoked and was in possession of Marijuana, all caught on camera. Finally, Marcel failed to yield at a crosswalk with a flashing yellow light and a person crossing, that was the reason he was pulled over. Everything that Taraji P. Henson said is a flat out lie.
Personal I feel the only reason that Taraji did a public apology was because of the video camera in the officers car. It showed the officer being kind, respectful, explaining the situation and waiving one of the charges. The officer even offered some good advice to the young man.
I can understand a mother or father being protective of their children no matter the age. The problem comes in when the protective parent uses lies, deceit and racial accusations indented to create racial tension. This was not an overreaction on Taraji’s part, it is a lie that uses race to spark racial tension.
